The Southern Soccer Academy of Coastal Georgia Shockers '98 finished off their tremendous fall 2012 season by winning the Norcross Nike Cup. The U/14 shockers who have had an unbeated league seaon (Athena 'C' Champions) went into the final on Sunday with a perfect 3-0-0 record. In the final the Shockers '98 team beat United FA Black 2-0. Southern Soccer Academy of Coastal Georgia U/15 - U/19 teams ended their fall season on positive notes during the Adidas Savannah Senior Cup College Showcase. With over 50 college coaches in attendence during the weekend’s play no few than five of the SSA Coastal Georgia teams took the Championship trophies.

SSA Coastal Georgia Shockers ’98 continued their success over the last 18 months by clinching the Athena ’C’ division title this fall and advance to the 2nd highest division in the state. Over the last couple seasons the Shockers ’98 team has advanced to ’C’ division, won the state cup and represented Georgia Soccer at regionals, and had tremendous showings in most tournaments that the team has entered. 

The HS 7 v 7 league finished after another very successful season. The finals produced some exciting games with Effingham winning the Premiership Boys Division final, Windsor winning the Championship Boys division final and SVA winning the Girls division final. Congratualtions to all three champions and Southern Soccer Academy of Coastal Georgia would like to thank all players who participated in the HS 7 v 7 league this fall.

Southern Soccer Academy of Coastal Georgia are proud to announce that 10 of it’s current players have made the GA or SC Olympic Development Program (ODP) teams. The ODP is the national system each state uses to identify the best players in each age group starting at U/11. These players then come together to train at various times during each month and represent the state of GA against the other states in games throughout the year. The ODP system in the past has been used to identify players for the USA National and Olympic teams. If you want to play ODP, then Southern Soccer Academy of Coastal Georgia is a good place to be!

The fall 2012 season is now finished. Congratulations to all the Coastal Georgia teams that made the play off Championships.

Spring season recreation soccer registration for U/4 - U/14 will open on Jan 3rd, 2013.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Club Executive Director, Coaches and Staff we would like to announce some very exciting news. Coastal Georgia Soccer Association has now become part of the newly formed Southern Soccer Association, and we will become the southern branch of this large new academy. This is a major step forward for Coastal Georgia and we would like to welcome and thank all players and their families for their support of our rapidly growing organization.

CGSA has sent it’s congratulations to Roy Hodgson on is appointment as England’s new Head Coach. The English Football Association made the announcement for the most prestigous job in soccer on Tuesday May 1st. Hodgson is a long time friend of CGSA Executive Director Gary Wright, and also in more recent times has become a friend of CGSA board members Michael Wakely, Kevin Mccarthy and Greg Sedlock. Over the last few years the the four CGSA representatives have visited with Hodgson when he was head coach at Fulham, Liverpool and more recently at WBA.
