Two CGSA players were awarded for their outstanding efforts in the recent High School season. Both Lindsey Vasher(Shockers ’91) and Casey Sheppard (Rovers ’90) were chosen as the Savannah Morning News All Greater Savannah Girls’s and Boy’s players of the year respectively. Lindsey, a sophomore forward let Richmond Hill high School to the class AAA quarterfinals. She scored 45 goals and had 27 assists, leading the Coastal Empire in both categories. Casey who represented SCPS also led his school to the quarterfinals in the class AA/A, whilst scoring 15 goals and a team high of 15 assists.
Savannah Morning News names a Player of the Year in each high school sport every year. They also name a "first team" comprised of the top players in each sport. Also of note were the CGSA players and CGSA graduates that were named to the Girls First Team- Lindsey Vasher, Ali Ramee, Pooja Patel, Haley O’Hare, Randi Friess, Bronte Brannen, Carre Rodriguez, and Donovan Shuman. CGSA Boy players and CGSA Graduates named to the Boys First Team- Casey Sheppard, Mason Love, Ryan Smith, Asher Holland, Tommy Farray.
The Awards/Honors are chosen by the Savannah Morning News sports staff in consultation with coaches. Players in Bryan ,Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties are eligable.
