5th ANNUAL ELITE CAMP KEEPS THE TREND OF SUCCESS GOING!!

The fifth annual Elite Camp in Savannah, July 6th -10th,2009 turned out to be another great week of high level soccer training for all the players that were in attendence. With the top quality coaching staff and the growing reputation of being one of the best soccer camps in the Southeast, players from many areas were in attendance this year. The camp coaching staff was of the highest level possible again and included 5 ’A’ license coaches. CGSA Academy Director Jeremy Aven, GSU Woman’s coach Jamey Newsome, former Kenya National team play Brian Okumu, Chris Young, former assistant to the Bahama National team Sammy Rutherford and Brad Nein were all at the camp sharing their coaching skills with the players. Camp Director Gary Wright said " The camp turned out to be another great week, the players had a great time and the coaches were tremendous again. here were some highlights throughout the week, one being Sarah Duckworth beating her juggking record. Sarah completed over 940 consecutive juggles in one of the sessions.Other highlights were the penalty king winners for each group, these were: Jack Rittmeyer, Reagan Glisson for the Boys and Girls Junior groups respectively and Happy Wright and Tyler Duckworth for the older girls and boys groups. The player of the week for each age group went to Gracie Thompson (Junior Girls group), Kaiven Patrick (Junior Boys group),Sarah Duckworth (Intermediate Girls group) and Asher Holland (Senior Group). The most improved players of the week awards went to Alex Mason (Juniro Girls), Connor Smedley(Junior Boys), Megan Weeks (Intermediate Girls) and Jordan Evans (Senior Group).

The camp also included a couple educational sessions with the sports trainers of St Joseph Candler designed around Speed and agility, stretching and nutrition for soccer. Camp Director Gary Wright said "Each group had tremendous talent and ability, and worked considerably hard throughout the week,we had a break with the weather this year and the temperatures were reasonable"."Again when players and coaches are sad that the week is over, you have to feel things went OK. A few parents commented that this was the best coached and organized camp they had ever seen, those things make all the hard work worthwhile".  The camp will run for the sixth succesive year the week of July 12th through 16th, 2010.

Recreation Camps:

We will be holding recreation camps throughout the summer to cover all ages.  These camps are designed around improving the soccer skills for our recreational players.

Message From The Director:

"The goal for our camps is for all ages and levels of players to come and enjoy themselves, while working hard on their soccer skills.   If our participants take something away from the camp, whether it be a new-found confidence or a new skill to beat an opponent, then the camp has been a success!

This is why the Professional Coaching Staff is chosen carefully as to enable different coaching methods and skills to be taught along with different personalities, for the development and enjoyment of the player."

We know our players and coaches:

A coach or Parent can approach our staff on any specific needs regarding player development, and because we know the player well, we can often get the best from the player (players like to feel comfortable in a fun learning environment)

CGSA Camp Programs & Clinics:

We teach our players skills for life, such as character, respect of the game, the officials and opponents. We work on seeking excellence through sportsmanship. Skills, character and development can be monitored with an on-going process long after the camp program has finished and throughout the seasons ahead.  In addition to our summer camp program, CGSA now provides on-going individual and group clinics throughout the year.  For more details about these clinics, contact Gary Wright at 691-2472.
