Rain, rain go away because the Divas want to play!

Unfortunately, Mother Nature intervened and soaked players, parents and coaches alike.    Among the raindrops, the Divas and the Dragons  sloshed onto the field and readied themselves to play.

Most of the early action took place in midfield, with the two teams testing defenses for weaknesses and finding none.  Finally, the Dragons offense took a bite out of the scoreboard with a fiery blast that scorched the net .  Another slow roller found the foot of an attacker and we found ourselves down 2-0.  The play was even for the rest of the half with outstanding efforts by Kayla (12 defensive stops) and Maggie (10) highlighting great defense.  Somehow, the Dragons  managed to score again to make it 3-0 at the half.

The score was 4-0 when Maggie won a ball at midfield and took some revenge on her former team.  She angled wide and cleanly beat the defender, gathered the ball inside the penalty box and slid a shot inside the near post to put the Divas on the board!  The celebration was short-lived however when the Dragons re-set the margin at 4 goals just minutes later.  Noteworthy second-half defensive stops were turned in by Shelby (6), Tiana (5) and Lexi (5).  Sarah completed the scoring by lifting a right-footed blast over the goalie just before the referee blew the final whistle.
