More Tournament Success for CGSA Teams In Jacksonville Labor Day Shootout

But the teams not only competed they showed that CGSA is a true force in youth soccer in the South East. The U/11 Rovers who have by far the most talented players in the area for this age group, and possible the state of GA, sent two teams to Jacksonville. The U/11 Barcelona team went on to win the U/11 Gold division comfortably (see separate article) and the U/11 United split their 4 games with two wins and two losses. The U/12 Rovers and U/14 Rovers both lost closely fought semi-finals 3-2 and 1-0 respectively. The U/19 Rovers had a tremendous weekend and eventually won in their Championship game 5-4 on PK’s (see separate article). This was after letting a 2-0 lead slip with a few minutes to go in regulation time. But the team showed great character to go through the extra time period and then win on PK’s. One of the most impressive performances of the weekend was the U/17 Shockers (see separate article). The U/17 Shockers were playing in the Girls U/19 division, and not only did the team compete at this level, they went 4-0-0 and won the Championship! It was great to see all the teams represent the club at the Jacksonville tournament, and even the teams that did not advance to the later stages had a good weekend.
